Lawrence Public Schools seeks voter approval to extend current millage rate

LAWRENCE – Voters in the Lawrence School District will go to the polls on Nov. 7 to vote on a 2023 Bond Proposal.
If approved, the bond will extend the current millage two years and generate $2.1 million for facility improvements with no projected increase in the current millage rate.
If approved, the $2.16 million bond would be used to remodel, equip, and re-equip school buildings, including partially replacing the Lawrence Junior/Senior High School roof, and improving and equipping an athletic facility.
Lawrence Public Schools Superintendent Gretchen Gendron said of the upcoming vote, “On Nov. 7, we are asking Lawrence residents to vote to consider this bond proposal.  This proposal is a no tax increase on the current levy and is an opportunity to allow the district to repair the Jr. Sr. High roof, which is well beyond life expectancy and is currently failing to protect the building.  Our Lawrence voters have historically been extremely positive, and we again hope the community will vote to support the students and our school’s needs. The district and the Board of Education have a great appreciation for all Lawrence residents and their continued commitment and support.”
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
