The Village of Lawrence celebrated “Christmas in the Village,” Dec. 10, with a full day of events, culminating with a Light Up Christmas Parade that night. Events included a benefit breakfast at the Lawrence American Legion Hall, with proceeds directed to the Old Lawrence Town Hall. A craft show was held at the Lawrence Township Hall. Ice sculpting was displayed in front of the Lawrence Township Emergency Services (LTES) building. Santa Claus paid an afternoon visit to the Lawrence Branch of the Van Buren District Library. The Allegan Brass Collective gave a late afternoon performance at the LTES building. The five-person group will give a free concert, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Griswold Auditorium, Allegan, as part of “Christmas at the Griswold, sponsored by the Allegan District Library. Following the 6 p.m. parade, that included a tractor with Christmas lights and a Miss and Mr. Lawrence float, among other entries, Santa helped light the Christmas tree in the Lawrence Village Park.
