JV Girls
The Chambers JV Girls dropped their first game of the season but not before defeating Edgewood Academy. The JV Lady Rebels came out cold trailing 0-11 to end the first quarter, but Samantha Lovelace opened the second with a three pointer which fired up the Rebels to cut the Wildcat lead 7-14 at the half.
Lovelace once again hit a three to start the second half. Aubie McManus hit a bucket and followed with two free throws to pull Chambers within one. Trenise Tigner then stole the ball and went straight to the goal to give the JV Lady Rebels the lead, and they never looked back, winning 32-18.
Chambers then took on Lowndes the following day. Chambers struck first but had trouble with the press and ended the first period down 6-12. The JV Lady Rebels started to chip away at the lead, but Lowndes came roaring back, and Chambers fell for the first time this season 19-48..
JV Boys
The JV Boys easily handled Edgewood earlier in the week. The press gave the Wildcats trouble allowing Chambers to jump out to a 16-6 lead in the first quarter. Hunter Andrews dropped a couple of threes in the second quarter to put the game out of reach early, and Chambers recorded another win 50-11.
The JV Boys then faced Lowndes and held them to just five points in the entire first half. Chambers kept a comfortable ten point lead through the first three periods of play, but Lowndes refused to go down without a fight. Trey Tigner sealed the win with a steal and score to capture the victory 29-22.
Varsity Girls
The Chambers Lady Rebels struggled to open the week falling 23-51 to the defending AA State Champion Edgewood Wildcats but had a much better showing against the Lowndes Rebels.
Tyane Anthony opened the game with a steal and score, and Makenzie Gilliland had a quick three pointer to give the Lady Rebels a 10-5 lead in the first. Things got tight in the third period as the game was tied 27 all going into the final quarter. However, Olivia Daughtry and Lizzie McManus took control of the boards and the Lady Rebels walked away with the 43-37 win.
