Holiday Happenings all around the Clare County area

The Fourth of July weekend is here and there will be parades and events around the county this weekend and winding up on Tuesday, the 4th of July.
Rosebush:
The Rosebush 4th of July celebration will be going on from June 30 to July 1. Events include an ice cream social, a 5K walk/run, a classic auto show, a parade, games, live music, a free family movie, a lamb and pig roast, a softball tournament and a tractor, truck and semi truck pull.
Farwell:
The 3rd annual Corn Hole Tournament on Saturday will take place at the Farwell Farmers Market, 124 Illinois Street. Registration and Warm up begins at 11 am and the event ends at 3 pm. Entry is $30 per team and the event will include food, music and fun. See www.facebook.com/Farwell .Farmers for more information.
The 4th of July weekend continues in Farwell Saturday at 7 pm. At the Farwell Fairgrounds, 221 S. Webber Street with the annual Figure-I & Bump N Run. The event will feature the Figure-8, Big Car, Fwd Mod, Fwd Stock, Bump N Run, Fwd Stock, Youth Stock and Powder Puff Stock. Entry is $50 per car and driver and a pit pass is $20. Powerwheels are free entry. All cars must register one hour before showtime. Pits open 4 hours before the show. For information call TNT Demolition Derby at 231-425-6990.
Lake George:
Head a little further north on Saturday for the Fourth of July fun at the Lake George Parades, which will be held Saturday, July 1st. The Street Parade will begin at 11 am at the Luke Hamlin Ball Field on Bringold Avenue (South end of town) in Lake George. Stick around the Lake George and Shingle Lake Boat Parades at 8 pm. All boats are welcome. Registration begins at 7:30 at the Lake George and Shingle Lake Boat launches. (No throwing anything from boats!)

Harrison:
Harrison’s holiday events begin with a demolition derby by USA Demo Derby on Sunday, July 2 at the Clare County Fairgrounds. The price for age 6 and up is $15 and the event will include food truck on site.
After the derby there will be Fireworks over the Fairgrounds sponsored by Heckman Electric, Napa, Coyne Oil, Harrison Realty, Superior Concrete, David Knack, the Budd Lake Association, the City of Harrison, Hardy-Bonham Insurance and MADS.
On the 4th of July, Harrison will have a parade through the community with the theme “Harrison Hoedown.” Parade line up begins at 9 am at the Clare County Fairground. The parade begins at 11 am. Prizes will go to the Most Unique Design, Most Patriotic, Best Use of Theme and Most Beautiful.
