Hartford hires new city manager

HARTFORD – The City of Hartford has announced that Nicol Brown has been named the new city manager for Hartford. Brown will begin her new role on Wednesday, March 6.
Brown previously served as the executive director for the St. Joseph Housing Commission, where she obtained grants to complete necessary projects, managed the commission and all employees, and managed the budget and capital improvements.  Prior to working for the St. Joseph Housing Commission, she worked as the community and economic development director for the City of Benton Harbor, as well as both the community outreach specialist and grant implementation specialist for the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
Brown and the City of Hartford will host a meet and greet at City Hall, Wednesday, March 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
“The Hartford City Council is very excited for the residents to meet Nicol.  We believe Nicol’s knowledge and experience will be a great addition to the city,” said Hartford Mayor Richard Hall.
The city’s current Interim City Manager, Linnea Rader, expressed her confidence in the city council’s candidate selection.  “Nicol’s background, experience and personality will be a great benefit to the City of Hartford, she will serve the residents well.”
