The Harrison girls basketball team was able to get a convincing home win on Friday. The Lady Hornets were hosting Pinconning in a Jack Pine Conference game, and won handily, by a score of 52-12.
“All the girls worked hard and did great with the press,” head coach Rich Gardner said. “The seniors were great leaders out on the floor helping their young teammates. Malea Gardner was a stealing machine at the top of the defense and Jiaryatou Cisse was a force in the middle.”
Cisse finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds, Gardner had 14 points, Sophia Vanburen and Johanna Bobzien had six points each and Janessa O’Day and Lydia Kendall had two points apiece.
On Dec. 5, Harrison hosted Cadillac Heritage Christian in a non-league contest. They won this game as well, 56-23.
“Cisse had 17 points and 15 rebounds and was dominant on the defensive side of the ball,” Gardner said.
To go along with Cisse’s big night, Gardner had 17 points, draining three treys in the process. Lydia Kendall had 10 points, Mya Gardner had six points and Jenassa O’Day, Johanna Bobzien and Hayle Neff had two points apiece.
Harrison (2-3 overall, 1-1 JPC) played at Farwell on Wednesday, heads to Shepherd today (Friday) and returns to action after holiday break when it hosts Meridian on Jan. 6.
