The Saugatuck-Douglas Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has hired long-time Saugatuck resident April Gundy as event coordinator. Her first day was Jan. 10.
Gundy, a personal trainer and fitness instructor who owns Encompass Wellness Fitness Center in Douglas, will oversee an array of local events, including ones formerly conducted by the Saugatuck-Douglas Area Business Association.
They include the St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl, Memorial Day Parade, Music in the Park concerts, Fourth of July Parade and Family Activities at Coghlin Park.
Wait, there’s more. Gundy will be responsible for Sidewalk Sales, the Kids Halloween Parade, Turkey Trot, Holiday Tree Lighting and Holiday Kick-Off Celebration, Christmas Parade and Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl.
“April’s extensive background in event management, coupled with her creative vision and attention to detail, make her the ideal candidate to lead these community gatherings,” CVB Executive Director Lisa Mize said.
“She has worked closely with Operation Hope for Allegan Youth to deliver high-quality events, showcasing a commitment to excellence that aligns seamlessly with the goals of the Saugatuck-Douglas community,” Mize continued.
“We are confident that under her guidance, our community events will continue to flourish,” the CVB head said.
Gundy said she was honored to serve the community in her new role and looks forward to working with local businesses, residents and guests towards creating remarkable celebrations here.
