Greydanus retires as Fennville superintendent

Jim Greydanus

At the February regular Board of Education meeting, the Fennville Public Schools Board of Education accepted the retirement of Superintendent Jim Greydanus, effective June 30, 2023.
Over the past six years, Mr. Greydanus led the district through the 2017 bond project that saw a refresh of our high school, arts, and athletic facilities, the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on education, and academic growth as evidenced by MI School Data’s dashboard.
Jim Greydanus shared, “My years serving as high school principal and superintendent have been very rewarding. The students, staff, parents, and community make Fennville a very special place. I am confident that Fennville Public Schools will continue to advance student learning, with a quality Board of Education, staff, and leadership team in place.”
“The Board of Education is grateful for Mr. Greydanus’ leadership and looks forward to engaging with him as we begin a transition with a new superintendent. We are excited about finding the next leader who can build off of our progress as a district and will use our nearly finished strategic plan to continue moving Fennville forward,” said Toby Hutchins, Board of Education President.
The Board of Education has contracted with the Michigan Leadership Institute for the search for the next Superintendent of Fennville Public Schools. Over the next few weeks, MLI will be surveying our school and Fennville community about the traits they would like to see in the next superintendent, along with strengths and opportunities for growth within the district. A link to the survey and other superintendent search information can be found at www.fennville.org.
A community forum is scheduled for Thursday, March 23 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fennville High School library. A schedule of interview dates, along with next steps, will be discussed and adopted at the Board of Education’s next meeting on March 27, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. in the FPS Board Room.
