Gobles eighth-grade girls triumph

GOBLES – The eighth girls basketball team is at 4-5 with 21-13 win at home v. Delton-Kellogg last week.
The Tigers came out pressing and playing tough defense and fell behind 2-4 after the 1st quarter then after an 11-1 run to finish the second quarter the Tigers went into halftime with an eight-point lead. It was an even game in the second half with the Tigers scoring six in the third and two more in fourth to finish the game with 21 points defeating the Panthers 21-13. Again the defense led the way to the victory.
Scoring came from Addy Hazard with two points, Bella Laughlin with four, Kelsee Sherrod with seven and Braelyne Woodard with eight points. The Tigers hosted Saugatuck on Monday, Feb. 26 and then travel to Fennville, Wednesday, Feb. 28 to finish up the 2024 season.
The 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team dropped to 3-5 with a loss at home to Black River on Feb. 19.
Gobles fell behind 16-6 at the half. A few adjustments and some stingy defense in the second half allowed the Tigers to come within six points to fall 17-11. The Tigers held Black River to one point in the secnd half but too many misses on the offensive stalled the comeback bid.
Those that scored include Maggie Morand – 1 point, Grace Wilkins – 2, Braelyne Woodard – 3 and Kelsee Sherrod – 5.
