The Farwell girls basketball team had their defense do their part in their road Jack Pine Conference game at Meridian on Friday. The Lady Eagles’ offense was never able to get untracked though, resulting in a 32-26 loss.
“Defensive struggle all game as no team scored more than 11 points in a quarter,” head coach Mike Groulx said. “I thought we did a great job taking care of the ball versus their pressure but we weren’t able to finish some shots vs it. Biggest difference in the game came from the three point line. We hit one three pointer while Meridian hit six. Very unusual game in that area for us because we are usually superb guarding the three point line. Credit to meridian, they were 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference heading into that game. They did enough to keep us out of rhythm all night.”
Madison Travis was able to have a good night, getting 19 points and tracking down 14 rebounds, Raini Sponseller had five points and three rebounds and Remi Sponseller was able to chip in with two points.
Farwell (5-3 overall, 2-3 JPC) hosted Shepherd on Wednesday, plays in Harrison tonight (Friday) and is at home against Gladwin on Thursday.
