The Farwell football team won their game against Breckenridge on Oct. 20 with a final score of 26-12. The team ended the season with a 1-8 record.
The Eagles started off the scoring in the game with a 40-yard trap play to Nathan Buzzanowski for a touchdown, and Austin Harris followed up with a 2-point conversion to make it 8-0. After a Breckenridge fumble, Brent Ellul would get to their 2-yard line and Harris drove it in to make it 14-0 in the first quarter. The score stayed the same at halftime.
In the third quarter, Harris scored a 45-yard touchdown run to make the score 20-6, and he added another one later on after Ellul ran 23 yards to set it up, making the game 26-6.
Breckenridge scored once more, but Farwell recovered the onside kick and was able to get two first downs to run out the clock.
“I am very proud of the heart and determination that our team showed all season,” head coach Travis Waddell said. “Each game we got better and we played our best game of the season against a tough Breckenridge team in week 9.”
Harris had 149 yards on 17 carries with three touchdowns. He also had 3 catches for 35 yards. Ellul had 144 yards on 22 carries and he was 3-5 passing for 35 yards. Buzzanowski had 90 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown.
The defense was led by Wyatt Vanbuskirk, who had seven tackles and two sacks. Harris had five tackles and a fumble recovery, Ethan Morford had five tackles, and Ellul had an interception.
