Ricky Zoet has become Douglas public works director on an interim basis after Matt Vogel was fired from his fulltime post following a closed city council session Nov. 22.
City manager Rich LaBombard said reasons for the termination, being a personnel matter, could not be disclosed.
The DPW head’s firing came three months after Douglas parted ways in a similar manner with planning and zoning administrator Nick Wikar. The administrative turnover matters are unrelated.
Zoet joined the city in June 2019 and was promoted to public works supervisor in September 2020. Council Monday OK’d LaBombard’s proposal he be named to the $35.57-per-hour salary position of interim director retroactive to Nov. 22 while while seeks a permanent director.
He will be allowed to apply for that post too, LaBombard said.
