Deputies investigate submerged vehicle, two hospitalized

ALLEGAN – Allegan County Central Dispatch received a call on March 25 at 8:30 p.m. on a personal injury crash near the intersection of 104th Ave and 50th St Grand Junction, Lee Township.
Witnesses reported a vehicle upside down in a swampy area. The driver and lone occupant was found to be unconscious and trapped inside the vehicle. The driver was transported to Bronson Hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was west on 104th Ave and left the roadway striking several trees and overturning into a swamp. Deputies say rescue personnel were able to extricate the driver for treatment. The crash is still under investigation by the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office at this time. The driver is listed to be in critical condition. Speed and alcohol were possible contributing factors.
Deputies say 104th Ave between 50th St and 52nd St Lee Township were closed for several hours during the investigation.
The Allegan Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lee Township Fire Department, LIFE EMS, and Allegan Central Dispatch.
