MARION – The Marion Village Council, at its meeting earlier this month, voted to pay the Marion Fair Board $850 for one-third of the cost of replacing the electric poles with boxes.
The board was told the board wanted to hire Jackson Electric to put in new ground boxes and take down the old poles. The fair board will be paying two-thirds of the cost and the Marion Snowmobile Club is paying for one-third of the cost.
But the fair board then asked if the village would consider paying for one-third of the cost.
The board discussed the abandonment of the land on South Broadway Street. It was discussed to get the land surveyed and put it up for minimum bids. LCM Surveying will be contacted to get an estimate of the survey.
There was a discussion on the Marion Township and Village of Marion clerk.
There was also discussion on village sidewalk repair. The board decided the sidewalk in front of the village hall should be replaced first.
The board voted to accept a bid of $7,845 to replace the sidewalk in front of the village hall out of the general account.
The board adopted the final project plan for water system Improvements and designated an authorized project rep.
