Clare hopeful for a successful soccer season

Wednesday night the Clare Girls Soccer team kicked off their season against Mount Pleasant. The girls fell short to the Oilers, 8-0, but Captain Bella Smylie still has strong hopes for the next few months.
Some of the girls’ goals for the season are to come together to play as a team and play as hard as they can. Bella mentioned how she appreciates watching the encouragement and support between returners and new girls alike. Another goal of theirs for the season is a bigger turnout at their games. Support from the stands can be just as essential to the game as support from teammates.
Despite the loss on Wednesday, the team still remains positive. Bella says, “I hope that we take Wednesday as a learning opportunity to really push each other, not just in games, but also in practice. Hard work pays off and we just need to work hard and power through. I know Clare Girls Soccer can be great as long as we stick together and put in the effort I know that we can.”
The girls will be back in action after Spring Break against Houghton Lake on April 5th in Clare.
