MARION – Marion Village Council president Flora Grundy said the council, at its Monday meeting, hired a full time campground manager for the 2022 season. The campground will open on May 23.
“There will be some repair work on the dam in the next couple of weeks,” Grundy said. “Once the work is complete we will begin to refill the pond.”
Grundy said the council voted to have a safety fence installed around the spillway at the Mill Pond.
She said a public hearing has been scheduled for Monday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Hall to discuss the water system improvement plan. The plan may be viewed at the Village Clerk’s office.
Two large dead trees at the corner of Sixth Street and Broadway Street will be removed this spring due to safety concerns, Grundy said. She added 10 AED’s with cabinets, two digital signs for the Village Hall, and 12 heavy duty steel picnic tables, and a set of cameras for the park have been bought so far with monies from a local anonymous donor from the community.
“We are so thankful to that person,” Grundy said.
Community clean-up day is this Friday, May 6, from 8 a.m. to noon.
“This year we have some local students from the national honor society helping out for their volunteer hours,” Grundy said. We will putting out for bid some repairs on a portion of the sidewalk east of the post office on the south side of the road to be completed this year.
The next regular meeting is at 7 p.m. with the special meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m.
