Board hears about student expulsion, lawsuit settlement

MARION – The Marion Board of Educartion revieweds a student representation report at its recent meeting.
The Homecoming dance was conducted and went well. MPACT had an apparel sale and closed on Oct. 29.
Parent/teacher conferences went well. They are starting to organize for Thanksgiving baskets and they helped with Family Learning Night.
On the bond update, there were little items to fix and Marion is waiting on the final check list.
After a one-hour closed session, the board voted to release the expulsion of a student from Marion Public Schools with the stipulation of only enrolling in an alternative or online school.
Steve Brimmer was hired as a fifth grade teacher.
He board approved the Altria lawsuit settlement.
Superintendent Prielipp shared the current enrollment is 425 students.
Heather Deighton, MPACT Advisor, thanked the Athletic Boosters for help with the homecoming dance.
Heather Deighton gave a MEA clarification of the letter of agreement for the para. It is not MSEA, it is MESP.
Alicia Michell reported Lindsay Sandelius was nominated and recognized for Mid-Michigan Economic Top 40 Before 40.
