Girl Scouts will Host S’mores Day Celebration

Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan will host a National S’mores Day celebration, Aug. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at their Kalamazoo Regional Center. The event is free and open to the community.
The celebration will have animals to see from Animal Rescue Project & Kitten Konnections, a bounce house, archery, crafting with Colors & Cocktails, and meet the iconic local Kalamazoo Ghostbusters. Plus, Teresa’s Kitchen will have a food truck with authentic Mexican food
No registration or RSVP is required.

Feeding America Mobile Food Truck to make Paw Paw stop

Paw Paw – The Feeding America Mobile Food Truc will be at the Paw Paw Seventh-day Adventist Church, M-40, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. The church extends an invitation for community residents to attend.

Van Buren Conservation District to hold Healthy Water Week 2023

Have you wondered how you can help keep Van Buren County’s water, land, and air healthy? If so, join the Van Buren Conservation District’s “Healthy Water Week” event Monday through Friday, Aug. 21-25, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Van Buren Conservation District Office (USDA Center), 1035 E Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. The event is free and open to the public. The VBCD will provide information, snacks, and take-home activities for kids.
Giveaways will include tote bags, reusable straws, jar openers made from recycled tires, snacks, and more. Staff will also perform free well water screening for nitrates and nitrites on site. Nitrates and nitrites in drinking water can be dangerous to health, especially that of infants and the elderly. The screening is open to all Van Buren County residents who are on private water systems (non-municipal wells) for drinking water.

Museum to hold “Ghost-a-Rama” Fundraiser

HARTFORD – “Ghost-a-Rama” a fundraiser for the Van Buren County Museum, will be held Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Van Buren County Museum, located midway between Lawrence and Hartford on Red Arrow Highway. The event will feature vendors, food, paranormal groups, and more.
Vendors seeking a camping space are asked to call the Bloomingdale Village Hall to reserve a camping site in the camp area. There will be no access to the museum as repairs from the June 2022 windstorm are currently ongoing.
The event will support the Pretty Lake Burn Camp as well as the Van Buren County Museum.
