Valley Police Chief Mike Reynolds released details to the public regarding the theft of a Lanett Fire Department ambulance from East Alabama Medical Center Lanier Hospital on 48th Street in Valley on Tuesday, October 17th of 2023.
Serenity Nyanda Trinea Rolland is the twenty-one year old suspect who was arrested at approximately 3 p.m. Central Standard Time by an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency state trooper when he observed her driving northbound on Highway 29. Rolland was taken into custody after a car chase that ended at her home in Lanett on South 10th Street and charged with the crimes of fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, reckless endangerment and theft of property in the 1st degree.
Chief Reynolds remarked that Rolland had refused treatment at the hospital after arriving there and requested a lift back to her home. According to law enforcement sources the ALEA state trooper was patrolling the area when he heard the radio transmission regarding the stolen ambulance shortly after 2:00 p.m. CST. Rolland was later booked and transported as an inmate at the Chambers County Detention Facility in LaFayette.
Reaction to news of the grand theft ambulance was swift and intense, ranging from shock and disbelief to befuddled amusement. One facebook commenter opined “so you actually think this only happens in the Valley area? I’m not sure where you currently live but if it’s free of crime and crazy folks I guess we all need to move there”.
Another commenter noted wryly “a lot more crime in Lee County than Chambers. But we’re glad you don’t want to reside here. Less clutter is the best”. Making mirth out of the story in a later remark, a commenter wrote “Apparently she failed to recognize the number one rule of car theft. Never steal anything too conspicuous!!! LOL”.
Well she got a ride home. Then a ride to Lafayette. Hint. Don’t try that in a small town.
Have you asked your self The real question i, when do a normal person steal a big ass medical van, unless they have some kind of a mental medical melt down issue , that’s the question one must first ask,why is the system so quick to jail someone , something like that should have been asked the moment it happened,we all know that jail is not always the answer,
