The SAC portion of the Allegan volleyball team’s schedule ended on a high note.
After falling to Delton in straight sets the previous week, the Tigers posted the 25–20, 20–25, 15-11 win over the Panthers on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Allegan did lose its first match of the evening, finishing on the wrong end of a 25-21, 25-21 final score in what Tigers coach Jake Kaylor called “a very hard fight back-and-forth battle.”
Allegan ended conference play 9 –18–4.
“While that’s not (the record) we were hoping for, the girls are playing some of the best team volleyball they have all year,” Kaylor said. “So, we’re peaking at the right time winning three of our last five matches.”
Senior outside hitter Carlee Rynearson racked up 18 kills and nine digs for the evening, while senior opposite hitter Keyana Szabo had nine kills, four aces and three digs. Senior middle blocker Katie VanAtter added four kills and two blocks, while sophomore middle blocker Hanna Kievit had six kills and three aces.
Senior exchange student MJ Costa and sophomore libero Addison Fales combined for 72 assists, while Costa added six digs and Fales had four aces.
Senior defensive specialist Laney Cole (11 digs and three aces) and sophomore outside hitter Mya Corbett (four kills and five digs) also played well.
As a team, Allegan served 95.2 percent.
