WATERVLIET—An early deficit proved to be too much for the Allegan girls basketball team to overcome in its road contest in Watervliet on Friday, Jan. 6.
The Tigers fell behind 15-6 after one quarter and ultimately fell by a score of 44-33.
“This was a physical, scrappy, competitive game on the road,” Allegan coach Sharron Thompson said.
Carlee Rynearson did her best to keep Allegan in the game, scoring a team high 14 points. Katelyn VanAtter added eight points, followed by Aubrie Evans with seven.
Breaunna Auger and Shyonna Thompson rounded out Allegan’s scoring with two points each.
The second and third quarters were much better for the Tigers, who actually outscored Watervliet 14-13 during those two periods and went to the fourth quarter down 28-20.
But the Panthers used a 16-13 edge in the final frame to secure the win.
“We look to learn from this and continue to build,” Sharron Thompson said.
