COLOMA—Make it three straight wins for the Allegan girls basketball team.
The Tigers traveled to Coloma on Friday, Feb. 16, and cruised to the 62-27 victory to complete the season sweep of the Comets.
Eight of the nine Allegan players who saw game action found their way into the scoring column.
“Nearly all of our girls put points on the board, which is always nice,” said Allegan coach Sharron Thompson, whose team improved to 6-10.
Katelyn VanAtter led the offensive onslaught for Allegan with 16 points. Fellow senior Carlee Rynearson joined her in double figures with 13 points, while Iciar Lafont Galdiz and Bailey Meade each added nine points.
Hayden Maka (seven points), Maddie Antkoviak (four points), Natalie Prentice (three points) and Shyonna Thompson (one point) also scored in the win.
Allegan led 32-18 at halftime and limited Coloma to nine points in the second half.
The Tigers’ home game against Holland Black River on Tuesday, Feb. 13, was much closer throughout the first half. Allegan went to the intermission leading 27-20.
But the second half belonged to the Tigers, who used a 22-13 scoring edge to pull away.
Rynearson led the way with 16 points, split evenly between the first and third quarters. Meade was next in line with 13 points.
