SOUTH HAVEN—It was an epic battle for the ages when the boys bowling teams from Allegan and South Haven faced off on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Okay. So maybe that’s a little big over the top.
But the showdown did feature a matchup between two teams that entered the evening with unbeaten records in the SAC Lakeshore Division.
And it was the Tigers who remained unbeaten, scoring the 22-8 victory to move to 3-0 in the division and 5-0 overall.
The Allegan girls also emerged victorious, earning the 23.5-6.5 triumph to run their winning streak to three. They improved to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the SAC Lakeshore.
“Both our boys and girls teams are very young and showed great heart and resilience tonight in their bowling,” Allegan co-coach Don Lamb said. “They are making us so proud of each and every one of them.”
In the boys match, Allegan won the baker games by scores of 168-119 and 158-96.
South Haven bounced back to take the first match-play game 792-760, but game two went to Allegan by a 744-688 margin.
Logan Locatis led the Tigers with a 187 in game one, while Anderson Zoch added a 173. Game two saw Levi Creguer post a team-best 166 for Allegan.
On the girls side, the teams split the baker games: South Haven took the first 134-127 and Allegan took the second 117-95.
And after Allegan took the first game of match play 566-539, the second game came down to the 10th frame. The Tigers prevailed, winning 574-558.
Audrey Brink bowled a 179 in game one to lead Allegan, with Leah Snyder going for a 174 in game two.
