WAYLAND—It was a battle between two of the top boys bowling teams in the SAC when Allegan and Martin met in a doubleheader on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Rock and Bowl in Wayland.
And it was the first-place Tigers who prevailed in both matches, taking the first 22-9 and winning the second 20-10.
Martin won both of the girls matches.
In the first boys match, the Clippers took the first baker game 151-122 before Allegan took the second 165-155.
The Tigers cruised in match play, taking those games 736-566 and 885-576.
Silas Neldon paced Allegan with a score of 201 in the first game, while Levi Creguer (211) and Anderson Zoch (205) both breaking 200 in game two.
The second match for the boys was almost a carbon copy of the first: Martin won the first baker game (174-132) before Allegan bounced back to take the second (161-128) and both match-play games (778-613 and 754-561).
Neldon had a 218 in game one and a 174 in game two, with Zoch going for a 206 and 196.
The wins kept Allegan unbeaten at 10-0 overall and 8-0 in the SAC Lakeshore.
On the girls side, the Tigers won both baker games of the first match, prevailing by scores of 128-118 and 164-121.
But Martin won both match-play games (709-675 and 629-624) to come out on top.
Leah Snyder performed well in the loss, going for a 234 in game one and a 182 in game two for a 416 series.
The Clippers won both bakers in the second match (117-109 and 115-86) and the second match-play game (664-589). Allegan took the first match-play game 676-672.
Snyder went for scores of 220 and 211 for a 431 series as Allegan fell to 5-5 overall and 5-3 in the division.
“Our ladies showed great heart today and fought a great battle, while the boys again showed great resilience and teamwork by picking each other up,” Allegan co-coach Don Lamb said.
