Obituary: Kenneth Eugene Walden

Kenneth Eugene Walden, 86, of Lawton, passed away Nov. 18, 2022, at Rose Arbor Residence, Kalamazoo. Ken was born July 12, 1936, in Calvin Township, MI, son to the late Clarence and Elvira (Lawson) Walden.
Ken was a longtime staple in the Lawton and Paw Paw communities. He was a dedicated member and past commander of the American Legion McGowan-Johnson Post 68, Paw Paw, and a member of the Past Commanders Club. Ken oversaw the Post Firing Squad, flags and flag poles, the pancake breakfast and past chairman of the bingo program, and member of the drill team. He was on the Lawton Fire Department for 35 years and served as past president of the Van Buren County Firemen’s Association. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was retired from Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), with over 22 years of service. Following his retirement, Ken went back to work at McDonald Towing for several years.
Ken is survived by his son, Guy (Talenna) Morey; two step-daughters, Autumn Joy Morey and Laura (James) Brownrigg; two brothers, David (Carol) Walden and Charles Walden; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Walden in 1996; and his two sisters, Cora Foster and Frances Jeffries.
Family and friends were invited to visit Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, where military honors were rendered at 7 p.m. Ken will be placed to rest Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI, at a later date.
