Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gertrude; brother, Phillip; sister, Joan DeRose; his daughter-in-law, Linda (Putnam) Roerig; niece Phyllis Gonzales; and great-nephew, Jonathon Qualtier.
Alan was proud of his service with the 7th U.S. Army stationed in Munich, Germany, as a PFC. This well-loved man spent his working days as a truck driver and retired to spend time on his property. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and taking care of his pond of fish and turtles.
He will be missed but his stories will live on in the hearts of all who heard them. Some ears will not know what to do without his wonderous ways of sharing a tale.
The celebration of life mass will be at St. Peter Catholic Church, Douglas, on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation is made to The Legacy on the Rock at St. Peter’s Church, Douglas, Mich.
