VICKSBURG—A battle of the Bulldogs went the way of the home team.
In the final game of the regular season, Vicksburg used a big first quarter to take control en route to handing Otsego the 35-0 loss.
Vicksburg (5-4) scored three rushing touchdowns in the first quarter, with two of those covering at least 40 yards. A fourth TD run—this one from 26 yards out—in the second quarter gave Vicksburg the 28-0 lead at halftime.
Otsego junior quarterback Jack Holmes threw for 110 yards in the losing cause, as he completed seven of his 17 pass attempts.
Junior Nolan VanderRoest was on the receiving end of five of those completions for 78 yards. Classmates Alex Raseman (18 yards) and Robert Darrow (14 yards) each had one catch.
Senior Andrew Chambers closed out his prep gridiron career with a team-best 73 rushing yards on 18 carries for Otsego (0-9)
Chambers also led the Otsego defense with six tackles. Gavin DeVine and Raseman were each in on four tackles.
