OTSEGO—The Otsego cross country teams celebrated Senior Night prior to the home meet with Plainwell on Tuesday, Oct. 11, as seniors Ellie Bush, Maeline DeHanne, Luke Aldrich, Pierce Bentley, Trevor Johnson, Ethan Raseman and Colin Wesseldyk were recognized.
The Bulldogs then got down to business, as the girls beat the Trojans 15-46 and the boys bested Plainwell 16-40 to each finish the regular season at 7-0 in league duals.
The victories also extended the conference winning streaks for Otsego: the girls have now won 82 straight conference duals, while the boys have won 71.
The Bulldogs had the top five finishers on the girls side, led by a winning effort of 18:29 from junior Megan Germain. Freshman Emma Hoffman (18:40), junior Logan Brazee (18:53), sophomore Taylor Mitchell (19:45) and freshman Rebekah Stachura (20:54) followed.
Grace Pettit was the top finisher for Plainwell, as she placed sixth at 21:01.
For the boys, Bentley claimed the first varsity win of his career with a personal-record time of 16:26 as Otsego took the top four spots. Sophomore Caleb Wesseldyk (16:35) was second, Colin Wesseldyk (16:39) and freshman Kenny Sheffer (17:26) followed.
Plainwell’s Thai Nguyen was fifth at 17:30, with sophomore Aidan Goodwin placing sixth at 17:36 to round out the scoring runners for the Bulldogs.
