Marion prepares for homecoming week

MARION – The Marion Homecoming parade is set for Friday, Sept. 30 at 5:30 pm.. The parade will start on Chadwick Street and end at the high school. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The district had a recent elementary homecoming cheerleading clinic.
The homecoming game on Friday is against Manistee Catholic Central in West Michigan D League action. The JV team plays at Mesick on Thursday.
Various activities were scheduled throughout the week for students to keep them involved in various events and celebrate homecoming.
In other school district related news, staff and students are settling into the new school year.
Coming into the year, school officials provided updates on renovation work on district buildings
It was noted under sheriff Jed Avery worked with Superintendent Danyel Prielipp to get a school resource officer hired. The millage passed and Marion was set to have a full time resource officer starting Monday, Aug; 22 for the school year at no charge to the district.
Recent personnel changes were made by the district.
The board approved hiring Roxanne Scott as a junior/senior high
paraprofessional, hired Clara Umbreit as an Elementary first grade teacher; approved the resignations of Lynn Edstrom and Adam Burns and approved hiring Michelle Depew as a kitchen staff employee.
