Allegan boys soccer coach Aaron Rogers wanted his team to set the tone early in its SAC Valley contest against visiting Parchment on Monday, Sept. 19.
Mission accomplished.
Led by three goals from Mikhail Peters, the Tigers scored early and often en route to securing the 10-0 victory in a game that was stopped at halftime due to the mercy rule.
The win kept Allegan unbeaten in divisional play at 5-0.
“We really wanted to set the tempo early by applying lots of defensive pressure and finishing some of our first hard-earned opportunities,” Rogers said. “While we still need to clean up our finishing a bit more, I was happy with our boost in composure in the offensive third.”
Peters wasn’t alone in scoring multiple goals for Allegan, as Quincy Lyon added two to go with a pair of assists.
Jesus Aguirre scored one goal and assisted on three others, while Joe Kavanaugh, Khain Nay Min, Jayden Snyder and Morghan Rife each had one goal.
Donnie Allen chipped in with a pair of assists. Gavin Kosiorowski and Andre Luccone had one assist each.
“The moments of unselfish team play where we strung passes together, found seams and put the ball away cleanly were indicators of improvement and growth in cohesion,” Rogers said.
“We will use this as momentum for our next two matchups, which are our last two division matches for us this season.
“If we can finish strong, we have a fantastic chance at bringing home the first boys soccer conference title in Allegan’s history.”
