Irwin C. Barker passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 22, 2022 at the age of 85. He was born in Lawrence, MI on January 9, 1937, to the late Lynn and Ruth (Dobson) Barker. Irwin proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was a welder. He retired from Arvco Container as a maintenance mechanic and had previously worked for Grand Rapids Packaging. Irwin was a hard worker, could fix nearly anything mechanical, and attended Covey Hill Baptist Church.
Irwin is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Doris (Sunlin) Barker; children, Chris Burgett, Karen (Andy) Cole, Cheryl (Brad) Modderman; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of very special extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Keith Burgett, Diane Adams; and two sisters, Marilynn and Carolyn.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 26, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 3926 S. 9th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lupus Foundation, American Cancer Society, or Hydrocephalus Association, in memory of Irwin.
