MARION – Marion Village Council president Flora Grundy said the council at its monthly meeting earlier this month, amended a portion of the water policy to address and clarify nonpayment and shutoff issues.
“Water bills are sent quarterly, the first of the month,” Grundy explained. “If the water bill is delinquent, the door will be tagged with a shutoff notice on the 18th or next business day, if the 18th lands on a weekend or holiday of the following month.
“If bill is not paid within the next two business days after tagging, an administrative fee of $37 will automatically be assessed and water service will be turned off. When the bill, including the administrative fee is paid, water service will be restored by the end of the next business day.”
Grundy said the annual audit is complete and reviewed by the council.
“There were a few deficiencies that needed to be corrected but otherwise it went really well,” Grundy said.
The council voted to close main street for the Old Fashioned Day activities a portion of the day Friday Aug. 5, Saturday, Aug. 6.
“The repaving of Morton and Blackledge streets is now complete,” Grundy said. “New digital signs that were payed for by an anonymous donor are now hanging at the village hall to display local current events and information to the public.
“We are currently replacing the sidewalk in front of the village hall/library building. It should be completed by this week.”
