Osceola commissioners approve part-time assistant

MARION – The Osceola County Board of Commissioners voted at Tuesday’s meeting to approve the part-time Coordinator’s assistant to work up to 29 hours a week as designated by the coordinator, Tim Ladd.
“It previously had been for 29 ½ hours,” commissioner Roger Elkins of Evart, said. “It expired Dec. 31 and she had been with us for 22 hours. So it’s an increase.
Commissioners also voted to approve the county health care benefits as presented by Advantage Benefits for Sept. 1 through August 31, 2023.
“It is a savings over what we had before,” Elkins said.
The board voted to sign the Homeland Security Grant program and to approve for EMS to apply for RAP Grants from Michigan Municipal Risk Management Association as presented.
Also approved was the Child and Parent Legal Representation Grant application.
Commissioners voted to post and fill a full-time deputy county clerk position. Tracey Cochran was the deputy clerk and was appointed by circuit court to replace retiring Karen Bluhm.
Commissioners voted to approve Cochran and Jody Waurzyniak and one employee delegate, voted by the employee group, to attend the MERS Annual Conference in September.
It was decided to approve the board chair to sign Discharge of Mortgage for James R. Shafer and Marie L. Shafer.
The GLEC union contract for EMS workers that is in place from July 10, 2022 through Dec. 31, 2024, was approved.
