The 2022 season is officially underway for the Plainwell Farmers’ Market.
Located at the Sweetwater’s Donut Mill parking lot at 554 W. Allegan Street, the market held its opening day from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19.
According to City of Plainwell community development manager Denise Siegel, the day couldn’t have gone any better.
“The opening day of the Plainwell Farmers’ Market was filled with excitement as our vendors reunited with their customers and, of course, the other vendors,” she said. “There is always a sense of excitement to see everyone again.
“We have been so fortunate to host the market in Sweetwater’s Donut Mill parking lot. They have been wonderful to work with. So not only can you purchase from our market but you can grab some donuts as well.”
Vendors for opening day included: The Cheese People of G.R.; Linda’s Designs; Papa’s Metals; Cathy’s Creations; Fluffy Butt Farms; GEM Ridge Farms; The Incredible Kettle; Wildwoods Blumen; Abuelos Farm; Post Farms; Pam’s Quilts; The Fox and Otter; Beyond Bones; and The D.A.M. Ranch.
Available products ranged from baked goods to woodworking, with much in between.
“If you have not been to our market, we have such a wide variety to offer,” Siegel said. “We have various food vendors offering baked goods, cheese, eggs, meat, chicken wings, coffee, kettle corn, produce and just so much more. Non-food items include goat soap, quilts, metal works, home designs and more.
“The market is such a great social gathering place.”
The Plainwell Farmers’ Market will run each Thursday from 3 to 6:30 p.m. until Oct. 13. And starting on Thursday, May 26, food trucks will be on site, starting with Taste Budz.
“Customers love shopping at our market,” Siegel said. “It’s a one-stop shop and the opportunity to support local vendors, shop outdoors and help us create a social gathering place, plus actually build a relationship with the vendors makes for a more personal shopping experience.”
