Investment Classics is revving up to showcase and sell classic cars in Saugatuck Township one block west of Blue Star Highway on the corner of 135th Avenue.
Owner Ron Levine plans an open house there at 3512 Commercial Blvd. featuring finely restored 1950s to 2000s automobile ranging from vintage Thunderbirds, Mercedes, Jaguars and Porches Saturday, May 21, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Also offered will be a wildly eclectic collection of memorabilia including classic neon signs from service stations, signed jerseys by Michael Jordan and Tom Brady, outfits worn by three of the four Beatles and more.
“At Investment Classics,” said Levine, “our primary focus will be on buying and selling classic cars. We will also offer classic car owners paint correction and ceramic coating services to keep their babies in mint condition.
“I wanted the showroom to celebrate the glory days of these vehicles, which is why I decided to decorate it with memorabilia from my private collection, built over decades of scouring auctions sites and antique shows,” he continued.
“With records playing on my vintage Wurlitzer Jukebox and Lionel Trains from childhood chugging along on overhead tracks, visiting Investment Classics will provide a walk down memory lane on multiple levels,” Levine said.
The owner/founder, who built his own company in the printing and graphic design business in Chicago while simultaneously managing music for Bandoleros, who recorded and toured with the Gipsy Kings, firs began visiting the Saugatuck-Douglas area with his wife Mira Iliescu around 2006. They subsequently bought a vacation home in Douglas, where they increasingly spend more time.
“I had a great career in Chicago, which allowed me to start collecting classic cars and memorabilia,” said Levine. “In the process, I begin renting storage units around the city.
‘Mira suggested it was time to bring the collection together in one place and my business idea was born. What better state to do that in than Michigan, home to the car capital of the world?”
“I am excited to be starting this next chapter and sharing my enthusiasm for the ‘good old days’ with a new generation of collectors,” Levine said.
Starting Monday May 23, Investment Classics will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and other days by appointment.
