SCHOOLCRAFT—The Saugatuck girls soccer team ended a stretch of three games in six days with a 3-1 loss to host Schoolcraft on Monday, May 9.
The Trailblazers won the first two games they planned during that span, besting Bridgman 4-0 on Friday, May 6, and upending Hartford 8-0 in a mercy-rule-shortened affair on Wednesday, May 4.
Erin Moerler scored the lone goal for Saugatuck (8-3-3) against Schoolcraft off an assist from Alyvia Downer. Kennedy Gustafson made 12 saves in the losing cause.
The Bridgman game saw the Trailblazers score four times in the first half and maintain that lead until the end of the contest.
Iris Kuipers and Jenn Schock each scored twice, with Gustafson picking up an assist. Emma DeBoer and Grace Greenwood combined for the shutout in goal as the defensive effort led by Kailyn Merkle and Haley Rivera limited the Bees to three shots on goal.
Downer led the offensive charge against Hartford, scoring twice to go with an assist. Schock, Moerler, Kuipers, Adele Nieuwsma, Mia Zerfas and Sage Larsen each added one goal.
Greenwood started in goal and earned the shutout.
