DECATUR TWP. – Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Paw Paw Post, along with detectives from the Southwest Enforcement (SWET) – west team stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on M51 Hwy near 76th Ave on April 14 in Decatur Township. Additionally, this vehicle and driver were tied to an organized crime group originating from southern Texas, according to a press release from MSP.
Through further investigations and evidence of illegal activity presented during the stop, legal methods were taken to search the vehicle and its driver. During the search, troopers located 460 grams of cocaine. The driver, identified as Rodolfo Cantu, 49, of Alamo, Texas, was arrested and transported to the Van Buren County Jail, Paw Paw, for felony drug charges and has since been arraigned.
Other evidence of drug trafficking was also seized from the vehicle and the SWET investigation continues into possible co-conspirators.
