PAW PAW – An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held Saturday afternoon, March 5, at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church for five members of Troop 169 Southern Shore Field Service Council, Paw Paw. Boy Scouts receiving their Eagle Scout were Mason Aldrich, Caleb Taylor, Joseph “Joey” Herr, Zach Dooley, and Nick Weston.
Aldrich’s project was planning and creating a gravel pathway for the Paw Paw District Library. Taylor cleaned and stained a wooden gazebo and restored an old shed at the PPUMC. Herr assembled, painted, and placed five United States flag retirement boxes located around the Village of Paw Paw. Dooley cleaned up a storage room at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church (PPUMC). Dooley cleaned up a storage room at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church (PPUMC). Weston cleaned and restored flower beds at Freshwater Community Church, Paw Paw.
The five participated in two Scoutmaster Conferences for their Eagle Scout project and their Eagle rank advancements, District board of reviews for both their Eagle Scout projects and their Eagle Scout advancement and board of reviews with the troop committees for their Eagle projects and Eagle Scout Rank advancements.
Guest speaker was State Senator Aric Nesbitt.
Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting. Since 1912, more than two million Boy Scouts have earned Eagle Scout rank.
Since the pandemic that began in 2020, a total 10 Boy Scouts from Troop 169 have received their Eagle Scout rank.
