LAWRENCE – A longtime Lawrence Township employee and a member and past fire chief of the Lawrence Township Emergency Services, was honored Thursday, Feb. 10, for his many years of dedicated service to the community.
Charles “Charlie” Moses was honored during a presentation at the Lawrence Township Hall for more than 40 years of community service as the township sexton, as well as more than 50 years as a past fire chief and member of the Lawrence Township Emergency Services.
Moses was presented with a resolution from Lawrence Township Supervisor Donna Spenner, which read in part:
“Charlie Moses as the Lawrence Township sexton, has provided quality service to township resident for over 40 years.” The tribute went on to read:
“…Charlie Moses has: Been responsible for the opening and keeping track of grave sites at three township cemeteries.
“Was known to be compassionate and caring with families who had lost loved ones.
“Being dedicated for the outstanding care and upkeep of all three township cemeteries properties.
“Taking the responsibility of managing buildings and grounds for the township with sincere dedication.”
LTES Fire Chief Mike Anchor presented Moses with a plaque which read in part: “In appreciation of over 50 years of dedicated service as fire chief/officer of Lawrence Township Emergency Services.”
State Sen. Aric Nesbitt was also on hand for the ceremony and presented a state Special Tribute, which was signed by him, as well as State Rep. Beth Griffin, Congressman Fred Upton, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, II.
The Special Tribute read in part: “With his retirement, an era of commitment and courage has drawn to a close. We proudly thank him for his notable contributions to the community’s safety and protection.”
