Construction is scheduled to begin in March on County Road 687 South of Interstate 94 at the Howlett and Conklin Drain in Hartford Township. The Van Buren County Road Commission is working with the prime contractor, Lounsbury Excavating, Inc., Paw Paw, to accomplish this work, which includes removal of the existing box culvert, and installation of a new concrete box culvert.
During most of the term of this project, all north and southbound traffic on CR 687 will be detoured around the construction zone through the established route (Red Arrow Highway, CR681, and Territorial Road [CR352]). Detour signs will notify motorists of the road closure and direct them through the detour. Representatives of Lounsbury Excavating, Inc., as well as the Van Buren County Road Commission urge all motorists to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones and detour routes.
Once the project begins, residents can stay up to date on the progress by visiting the Road Commission’s website at: www.vbcrc.org/projects, via Facebook (@VBCRC), or by calling the Road Commission at (269) 674-8011, Extension 0.
