MARION – Danyel Prielipp is principal at Marion High School and continues to serve as the Eagles’ competitive cheer coach.
Freshmen on the team are Lila Prielipp, Malley Raymond, J’Lynn Schoonmaker. Ella Wilson, Ashley Lewis and Alaysia Ankney.
Sophomores are: Lila Krchmar, Taylor Kruse, Karma Levine, Madison Sutten and Ellie Pearson.
The lone junior is Elizabeth Fouch.
“We have only had one competition (Dec. 15th),” Prielipp said. “It was a home competition. We won. Lake City took second and Evart took third. Our next competition is Jan. 12, again at Marion.
“We have a very young, but driven team this year. What they lack in experience they make up for in skill and dedication. The girls have been really fun to work with; they work hard and aim to make gains daily.”
Evart’s competitive cheer team is coached by Marty Pattee.
Pattee has 15 girls on her varsity team.
Pattee also said she will be retiring as competitive cheer coach after 32 years on job. She retired as a teacher at the end of the 2020-21 school year after serving on the elementary and junior high level. Pattee said her current assistant, Taylor Bryant, will be taking over the competitive cheer program when she retires.
“I’ve taught everything from first grade through eighth grade,” Pattee said.
