Clare wrestling is going to be taking four wrestlers to the State Tournament in a couple of weeks after coming out on top during the Individual Regional Finals.
On the boys side, Ryan Moreno, Carter Smedley and Holden Hollingshead were all runners-up during their finals on Feb. 17 and will be going to the State Tournament. Kyle Schaaf also won the Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award during the finals.
“Our program is incredibly blessed to have him,” head coach Dennis Doyle said of Schaaf in a post on the Clare High School wrestling Facebook group. “He is a great role model for our student athletes and the knowledge he brings into our room is incredible!”
For the girls, Ann Marie Green won her second Regional title on Feb. 18 and will be going back to the State Tournament at Ford Field. She won he title by defeating the defending state champion in a triple overtime match.
“Her work habits and dedication to this sport and this team are incredible,” Doyle said of Green in another post.
