MARION – A Missaukee County woman suffered minor injuries from a crash on southbound US 131 near Mile Marker 177 in Clam Lake Township on Sunday.
Michigan State police troopers report that according to witnesses, a GMC Terrain entered the freeway from the off ramp at exit 177 and proceeded to travel northbound on the lefthand of southbound US 131.
A Dodge Ram was traveling south bound in the left lane and at the last second observed the wrong way driver and attempted to move over to avoid a collision. But the vehicles struck head on.
The driver of the Dodge, a 60-year-old man from Boston, and his passenger a 61-year-old man from Eden, NY, were not injured.
But the driver of the GMC, a 67-year-old woman from Lake City, was transported by ambulance to Munson Hospital in Cadillac with minor injuries.
No names were released.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash. The woman was issued a citation for driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
Southbound U.S. 131 was shut down for 10 minutes before being re-opened to a single lane of travel while first responders cleared the scene.
