MCBAIN – Beal City defeated McBain Northern Michigan Christian 46-21 on Tuesday in Highland Conference action.
Beal City had quarter leads of 15-6 and 20-12 and outscored NMC 24-0 in the third quarter.
“We played a good first half of basketball, made adjustments on defense and started seeing some good looks on offense,” NMC coach DaNay Tossey said. “The third quarter killed us, we just fell apart. They made adjustments at half time and our girls couldn’t keep up or find the shot opportunities on our end.
“The 4th quarter we did have new energy with subs, and outscored them but it was too late to make a run. Our 5th quarter freshman Harper Tossey led in points (6), rebounds (7) and added 2 steals.”
Elly Bennett had five points and six rebounds. Jada VanNoord had four points and three rebounds.
NMC shot only 14.6 percent from the floor.
NMC has a 1-10 record and will play Roscommon on Thursday at home.
