Arlene passed away, Friday, January 12, 2024, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born February 17, 1937, in Hopkins, the daughter of Gerhardt and Esther (Schafer) Kerber. Arlene worked as a custodian for Hopkins Public Schools for 30 years until her retirement. She enjoyed raising her family and taking care of her home. She was an excellent cook, and everyone looked forward to her chop suey Sunday dinners. Arlene liked playing golf and had 2 holes in one over the years. She also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, traveling by motorcycle and RV, gardening and for 28 years wintering with her husband Bill in Pioneer Creek, Florida. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wayland. On December 10, 1955, she married William Sebright who survives. Also surviving are her children, Karen (Ron) Ninke of Portage and Bill Sebright of Wayland; 5 grandchildren, Matt, Jessica, Chad, Chris and Kayla; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Chappell and Gary Kerber along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Kerber. Friends may visit with Arlene’s family from 5-7 PM, Monday, January 15, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wayland, and from 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 16, 2024, until the time of the service at 3:00 P.M., with Pastor Richard Scheibe officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Arlene may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Wayland or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
