Kent Nelson Krantz, age 82, was born on June 29, 1941 and left our world peacefully January 3, 2024 in Clare. Kent, originally from Durand was an exceptional athlete and graduated from Durand High School in 1959. He moved to Clare after marrying Barbara Ann (Scheer) in 1962. Kent and Barbara celebrated 61 remarkable years together. He had a rewarding career as a Real Estate Broker and worked in Michigan’s Oil and Gas industry. He was also a Kiwanis member in central michigan for years. Kent loved exploring Michigan and was and avid sportsman. Hunting and fishing with family and friends is where he loved to be. In particular, he loved spending time at his off -grid hunting camp in Northern Clare County, where he enjoyed the solitude of the woods. After retirement he spent time sailing the Great Lakes and on Bois Blanc Island. He enjoyed RVing the western states and occasionally big game hunting trips. In recent years, Kent cherished living and fishing in the beautiful lower Florida Keys and the laid back vibe of island life.
Kent is survived by his wife Barbara, three children, Dawn (Jim Schriber) Krantz of Elwell, MI. Donald Krantz of Macon. GA and David Krantz of Jacksonville, OR. Additionally, two grand daughters, Crea Naymik Krantz and Olivia Krantz. His brother Karl Krantz of Owosso, and several nephews and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donald W. and Marie E. Krantz of Durand. His in-laws George and Pauline Scheer of Clare.
A celebration of life gathering is planned for June 29, 2024 in Clare with location and time to be determined.. Donations can be made directly to My Michigan Hospice.
