McBain boys looking to keep winning

MCBAIN –It’s been a good start to the Highland Conference boys basketball season and coach Bruce Koopman is hoping it continues.
The Ramblers are 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Highland.
“We (McBain) are off to a good start at 5-0 with solid nonconference wins over Boyne City, Reed City and Kingsley,” Koopman said. “Although the Highland Conference race has a long way to go, we did pick up a big win against Beal City at home. The players are all working hard in practice pushing each other,” Koopman said. “Perhaps most important is we have no one injured, everyone is healthy.
“The offense is playing well, rebounding is solid and there have been a few big wins, big shots, blocks and dunks. I’m pleased with the buy in by the players, the energy and the hard work. Defensive diversity and rebounding will continue to be the focus point and getting deeper into the play book vs man and zone along with cleaning up all the little things.”
McBain will resume action at Roscommon on Jan. 4, at Evart on Jan. 5, at Cadillac on Jan. 8 and at Pine River on Jan. 10.
