Otsego bowlers take on Niles

NILES—The Otsego bowling teams traveled to Niles on Wednesday, Dec. 13, and came away with a split decision.
The girls team won 22-8, while the boys team fell by that same score.
“The girls didn’t have their best nights of the year, but they picked each other up well enough to get the victory,” Otsego coach Chuck Kinnane said.
The Otsego girls won the match-play games 625-578 and 598-505.
Mercedes Edney paced the Bulldogs in game one with a 189. Alicyn Klok and Wybie Burke followed with 150 and 145, respectively.
Paige Bender had a team-best 128 in game two, with Edney (121) and Klok (120) close behind.
Otsego won the second baker game 135-96 after dropping the first 134-114.
The Otsego boys prevailed in the first game of match play, winning 772-740 behind a 194 from Jack Ordway and a 177 from Phoenix Orona. Game two went to Niles at 773-625.
Cole Kortokrax’s 174 paces the Bulldogs.
Both baker games went to Niles, with the Vikings winning 184-151 and 167-130.
On Saturday, Dec. 16, Otsego was back in action against Mattawan. The Bulldogs secured a double win, with the boys prevailing at 27-3 and the girls winning 28-2.
Ordway had a 182 game to lead the Otsego boys, and Madelyn Borling took one of her two individual points in her varsity debut.
