Missaukee eyes Nielsen for administrator position

LAKE CITY – The Missaukee County Board of Commissioners has decided to negotiate with Jessica Nielsen to fill the county administrator’s position Nielsen is currently clerk and interim administrator.
At a recent board meeting, Chet Janik, Michigan Leadership Institute, reviewed the interview procedures with the commissioners.
Interviews for County Administrator proceeded as follows: Joseph Erickson, Mark Justin David Coffey and Jessica Nielsen.
There was discussion and consideration of extending a conditional offer of employment. Commissioners discussed qualifications of each candidate for county administrator and completed a written ballot for their top two candidate selections.
A motion passed to extend a conditional offer of employment to candidate Jessica Nielsen for County Administrator.
The board appointed Board Chair Dean Smallegan to start negotiations for a contract, with Commissioner Vanderwal and Commissioner Niebrzydowski to assist with the process.
Also, at a recent meeting, Nielsen, Clerk/Interim Administrator, presented an amendment to the current lease agreement with Huntington Bank for the Prosecutor’s Office space. The current lease ends Feb. 27, 2024 and the amendment would extend the terms of the current lease through Aug, 8, 2024.
The board voted to approve the third amendment of lease with the Huntington Bank as presented.
