MARION – The Osceola County Board of Commissioners, at its meeting last week, approved a three-year contract with Point Broadband Service for Internet Services at the new E.M.S. Station in Evart and for the Board Chair to sign. The motion carried with unanimous voice.
“It’s $99 a month,” commissioner Tim Michell of Marion, said. “There’s no instoallation fee. It’s a good deal.”
Michell has talked frequenlty about getting broadband services for the county.
“There’s a lot of spots where we don’t have it,” he said. “But some places we have fast fiber in the ground now. Great Lakes Energy is supposed to be coming within a year, is what I’ve ben told, and they’ll run fiber on the poles to their customers. Broadband will be installing more wireless high speed broadband throughout the county as well next year.
“I haven’t seen it happen yet but thy tell me it’s coming soon.”
The commissioners also approved various budget amendments and cash transfers.
The Next Board of Commissioners meeting is set for next week, Dec. 5.
